If I hover over a screen name and it shows a follow/profile box and if I try to go to it, it disappears. What TF am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help. Have a Toyota.

If you click the link that is that user's name, it will take you to their homepage. There, you can click the teeny tiny triangle next to their avatar and select "follow" if that's what you are trying to do.
